Assistant Professor / Division of Medical Genetics

The Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a clinical geneticist at the rank of Assistant Professor to join our growing and evolving program. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-volume clinical service spanning Manhattan and NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, within one of the largest integrated academic health systems in the country.

About the Division

The Division of Medical Genetics provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services across the NewYork-Presbyterian system, supported by a collaborative team of clinical geneticists and genetic counselors. Our program includes a busy inpatient consult service, active outpatient clinics, and an ACGME-accredited Medical Genetics and Genomics Fellowship.

The Division is currently undergoing a strategic transformation toward a distributed, genome-enabled model of care. This includes:

  • Expansion of rapid genomic diagnostics in the inpatient setting, including NICU and other high-acuity services
  • Integration of genetic counselors within subspecialty clinics to enable proactive identification of patients who may benefit from genomic evaluation
  • Development of standardized clinical pathways for genetic testing and longitudinal management
  • Creation of data infrastructure to support clinical care, research, and precision medicine initiatives across the health system

Faculty joining the Division will have the opportunity to contribute to and help shape these efforts.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient genetic consultation services across Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital
  • Participate in a growing inpatient consult service, including care of critically ill children and integration of genomic diagnostics into clinical decision-making
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across pediatric subspecialties

Academic and Educational Responsibilities

  • Teach medical students, pediatric residents, genetic counseling students, and fellows
  • Participate in the Division’s ACGME-accredited Medical Genetics and Genomics Fellowship Program
  • Opportunities for clinical, translational, and/or programmatic research are available and supported

Candidate Qualifications

  • MD or MD/PhD with completion of an ACGME-accredited Medical Genetics and Genomics training program
  • Board certified or board eligible by the ABMGG
  • Demonstrated interest in clinical excellence, education, and/or program development
