Infectious Diseases

The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Weill Cornell Medicine is committed to providing comprehensive and specialized medical care to newborns, infants, children and adolescents with acute and chronic infectious diseases. Affiliated with Children’s Hospital of New York at NewYork-Presbyterian, we integrate basic pediatric care services with state-of-the-art treatment to meet the challenges posed by pediatric infectious diseases. This rapidly changing field requires specialized, innovative approaches to both common infections and more serious infectious diseases.

Our practice provides comprehensive and specialized medical care for neonates, children and adolescents with acute or chronic, acquired or congenital infections and in particular viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections, in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Our clinical team manages infectious diseases which range from simple diagnosis to uncommon, more complex and severe, affecting multiple body systems or associated with weakened immune systems.

The research teams are recognized for its research excellence in CMV and HIV vaccine development and immunology, and congenital CMV clinical research.

The divisional research focuses on improving the understanding and care of children with infectious diseases through basic, clinical, and translational studies. Much of the work centers on HIV immunology, gut microbiome, congenital CMV, vaccines development, helping to better understand immune responses and how to protect vulnerable children from severe infections. In addition, other divisional research focuses on tuberculosis, epidemiology, and diagnostic stewardship.
