Weill Cornell Medicine Pediatric Endocrinology researchers engage in a wide range of research activities to expand the understanding of endocrine disorders in children and adolescents, and to innovate more effective strategies for the prevention, management and resolution of endocrine disease. We continue to break new ground in our understanding of conditions including diabetes, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, pediatric growth and metabolism.
- The Comprehensive Care Center for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) engages with industry sponsored trials on novel pharmaceutical treatments for CAH. They are also conducting clinical research in exploring efficacy and outcomes of different steroid dosing regimenfor patients with classical CAH, and quality of life of parents and patients with CAH. - The Pediatric Diabetes Program is a member of the Type 1 diabetes Exchange, a national QI collaborative, and is conducting QI work and clinical research on disparities in diabetes care and outcomes and use of technology for pediatric diabetes. Learn more.
- The Weight and Metabolism Program, in a joint partnership with Cornell University, is engaged in clinical research investigating methods of decreasing proression to diabetes in adolescent girls who are at high risk for diabetes. They are also investigating the effect of a weekly education session on weight management.
- Our division is engaged in a joint effort with Columbia's Pediatric Endocrinology and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital to investigate the association between phthalates (endocrine disruptors) and hypospadias in newborn boys.
