Dr. Jane Chang Named Section Chief of Adolescent Medicine

The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce the appointment of Jane Chang, M.D. as Section Chief of Adolescent Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, effective July 1, 2023.  In this new role, Dr. Chang will work closely with Ambulatory Care Network (ACN) leadership and Susan Bostwick, M.D., MBA, Division Chief of General Academic Pediatrics, to transform the Adolescent Medicine practice and expand its services to all patients.

We would like to thank Lisa Ipp, M.D. for her outstanding leadership, service and dedication as Associate Medical Director for Adolescent Medicine, where among many other accomplishments as our first director of Adolescent Medicine, she oversaw the development of our adolescent clinical and education programs for over 20 years. We are grateful Dr. Ipp will remain the Director of Adolescent Education as well as continue serving as Chief of Pediatrics at the Hospital for Special Surgery, where she leads the clinical, quality and operations aspects of the pediatric service.

As Section Chief of Adolescent Medicine in the Division of General Academic Pediatrics, Dr. Chang will provide overall leadership and direction of the section’s clinical, research, and educational activities, and strives to build a culture that bolsters academic scholarship and leadership and advances clinical innovation and research. Dr. Chang, who joined the Department in 2005, has led interdisciplinary programs on Helmsley Tower 5 (HT5) including the Teen Parenting Program, Health for Life, and more recently founded our Compass program for transgender and gender diverse youth. Dr. Chang has been a dedicated educator and mentor to medical students, residents, and fellows throughout her career. She leads a number of community engagement initiatives and serves as a community health physician champion with the NYP Division of Community and Population Health. Dr. Chang is an active member of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine and has presented research and educational workshops at numerous national meetings.

Working closely with ACN leadership and Dr. Susan Bostwick, Dr. Chang’s priorities include aligning the Adolescent Medicine practice’s access metrics with the Weill Cornell Medicine Physician Organization and Departmental targets and engaging in pediatric primary care provider outreach to increase the referral base. She looks forward to identifying and fostering collaborations and partnerships with other departments, divisions and organizations to enhance the reach and impact of outreach initiatives.  Another priority will be to create and support the development of educational resources, materials, and toolkits for medical providers to support their clinical practice in adolescent medicine. Such resources may include guidelines, protocols, best practice recommendations, or online educational modules to enhance provider knowledge and skills.

Dr. Chang is an associate professor of clinical pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and an associate attending pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. After achieving a B.A. in Human Biology from Brown University, Dr. Chang earned her medical degree from University of Vermont College of Medicine. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center’s Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital and her fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Chang is Board Certified in General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.
