Christina Tempesta, M.D.

Christina was born and raised in Rye Brook, NY, a small town about 40 minutes from Manhattan. She attended Villanova University for college and then took two years off to be a preschool teacher, prior to attending medical school at George Washington University in DC. She then returned to NY to complete her residency right here at Cornell! She certainly loved her time at Cornell and is beyond excited to be staying at Cornell/NYP for another 3 years to learn from those who inspired her the most. Outside of work, Christina loves to try new restaurants and travel with her fiancée. She is also a HUGE Broadway Fan; having seen 21 musical productions! She hopes to add a few more to that count during fellowship!

Hera Mahmood, M.D.

Hera is originally from Long Island and grew up in New Hyde Park and Roslyn Heights. She graduated from Drexel University College of Medicine, completed Pediatric Residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and worked one year as a PICU Hospitalist at CHOP. During her time in Philly, she has been able to establish sustained partnerships with a variety of local vendors. These partnerships allow her to work with local produce markets, to get weekly fruit donations to a nearby women’s shelter as part of a nutrition and fitness initiative. The partnership with local bike shops and the Bicycle Coalition of Philadelphia has also facilitated the distribution of new helmets to patients, and the organization of an annual bike safety event. Hera loves all things outdoors, including cycling, camping, and multi-day treks.

Jennifer Shenker, M.D.

Jennifer was born and raised in New York City, on the Upper West Side. She went to medical school at New York Medical College and completed her Pediatrics residency at NYU. Her hobbies include spending time with my family; she has two boys (5 and 3 years old!). Jennifer would say that getting through medical school and residency with them were her major accomplishments. When she is not running after my kids, she loves to cook. She takes cooking dinner pretty seriously and enjoys hosting friends when she has time off from work. ENDOCRINOLOGY
