Dr. Thanakorn Jirasevijinda Promoted to Professor of Teaching in Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce the promotion of Thanakorn Jirasevijinda, MD to Professor of Teaching in Pediatrics.

 Dr. Thanakorn Jirasevijinda earned a BAS in Studio Art and Biological Sciences at Stanford University in 1990. He entered medical school at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, achieving his MD in 1996. He completed a pediatric internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where he also completed his residency in pediatrics in 1999. Prior to joining Weill Cornell, Dr. Jirasevijinda held academic positions at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he received a Leo M. Davidoff Society for Teaching award. He served as attending physician at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, where he was also Associate Residency Program Director and Clerkship Site Director. Dr. Jirasevijinda was also a Co-Program Director of a HRSA (Health Resource Services Administration) grant for residency training in cultural competence and served as the Director of Curricular Innovation for the New York Academy of Medicine Section on Evidence-Based Healthcare. In addition to his work at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, Dr. Jirasevijinda serves as Editor Emeritus for the Journal of Communication in Healthcare where he remains Section Editor for the Patient Voices Section. He is an active member of the teaching subcommittee of EACH – International Association for Communication in Healthcare (tEACH).

 Dr. Jirasevijinda is a faculty member in General Academic Pediatrics and Director of Pediatric Undergraduate Medical Education. He cares for children as an inpatient hospitalist and provider in the General Pediatric Clinic, and strives to provide humanistic, patient-centered and culturally effective care as well as provide shared-decision making. Dr. Jirasevijinda's scholarly efforts have focused on health professions education, including innovative curriculum, mentoring, assessment and educational scholarship. He recently received the Fulbright Faculty Scholars award for the 2021-22 academic year.
