The Weill Cornell Medicine Department of Pediatrics and the Drukier Institute for Children’s Health hosted the 5th Annual Pediatric Research Day, showcasing the breadth and impact of research conducted by faculty, fellows, residents, graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, medical students, and collaborators across affiliated departments and institutions. Graduating fellows and senior residents presented their work as part of this departmental milestone event.
The program featured a full day of scientific exchange, including oral presentations in clinical, translational, and basic science, as well as two poster sessions highlighting areas such as basic, clinical, translational, quality improvement, education, and health services. Posters were evaluated by expert judges, with awards recognizing outstanding contributions.
In addition to research presentations, the event included a keynote address by Deborah Estrin, Professor of Computer Science and Associate Dean for Impact at Cornell Tech, who spoke on leveraging data, digital health, and artificial intelligence to accelerate meaningful clinical impact for children.
The day also emphasized community building and career development, with dedicated time for networking and a professional development luncheon aimed at supporting trainees and junior investigators. Participation from collaborators across Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell Tech, and programs such as the Burroughs Wellcome Fund and R38 StARR Scholars further enriched the interdisciplinary nature of the event.
Pediatric Research Day continues to advance the Department and Institute’s mission to foster collaboration, mentorship, and innovation, while highlighting how research drives improvements in child health locally and beyond.
