Join the Children’s Health Council

The Weill Cornell Medicine Children’s Health Council (CHC) is comprised of families and individuals who have contributed a minimum donation to support children’s health research. The CHC hosts educational activities and social gatherings including panel discussions, cocktail receptions and other member events.

Participate in the Family Advisory Council

The Department of Pediatrics works closely with the NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children’s Hospital Family Advisory Council (KCH FAC), a diverse group of dedicated parent and caregiver volunteers who had or currently have a child in the hospital. Council members are committed to working with hospital leadership, staff, and administration to promote the safest and highest quality care in the most family-friendly and child-centered environment possible. This approach is known as patient- and family-centered care.

Formed as part of our patient- and family-centered care mission, the KCH FAC seeks to encourage communication between families and hospital staff to improve the delivery of care in the hospital. The council works to ensure that each child’s stay is as comfortable as possible, by improving patient and family services, and providing families with the information and guidance they need to care for their child with confidence. As NewYork-Presbyterian volunteers, members of the KCH FAC must complete background checks and medical clearance. Ongoing training is required.

To learn more about the KCH FAC and how to apply, visit the KCH FAC website: Family Advisory Council.

Volunteer at NYP Komansky Children’s Hospital

Volunteers contribute to the Department of Pediatrics through our affiliation with the NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children’s Hospital at Weill Cornell Medical Center. They provide vital assistance for our patients, families and healthcare professionals. We welcome warm and caring individuals who would like to volunteer their time to provide toys and games, assist with arts and crafts activities, serve as companions when necessary and ease stress during hospital stays. Our volunteers make a special difference in the lives of our young patients and their families.

All volunteers must be at least 18 years old and apply through the NewYork-Presbyterian Volunteer Office. When applying, let Volunteer Office staff know you are interested in a position in the Department of Pediatrics.

For forms and to learn more, visit NewYork-Presbyterian Volunteering.

Share Your Story

Sharing your family’s healthcare experiences helps other families to cope with their child’s diagnosis and treatment. The knowledge of a family who successfully managed their child’s medical care is of the most reassuring and empowering information another family can receive. If you would like to share the story of your child’s medical journey, please contact the Weill Cornell Medicine Communication Team: (646) 962-9564 / pr@med.cornell.edu, or fill out the Office of External Affairs Contact Request Form.
